Our Story

Southwest Christian Academy, located in Dallas, Texas, is a private Christian school affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Established over 90 years ago, it holds the distinction of being the oldest Black Christian private school in Dallas. Originally known as City Temple Junior Academy, SWCA has a legacy of producing graduates who have become doctors, lawyers, educators, and community leaders. The school serves students from Pre-K3 through Grade 8, emphasizing holistic development—spiritual, mental, and physical—within a nurturing Christian environment. SWAJA offers specialized programs in STEM and Aviation, along with extracurricular activities like robotics and public speaking, to foster innovation and leadership.

With small class sizes and a low student-to-teacher ratio, students receive personalized attention from certified educators, 90% of whom hold advanced degrees. The diverse student body is predominantly African American, reflecting the school's commitment to serving the community. For the 2025–2026 academic year, SWCA provides major tuition scholarships and a free hot lunch program to support families. Enrollment is open to both church members and the broader community, welcoming all who seek a quality Christian education. Under the leadership of Principal Dr. Violet Dean, SWCA continues its mission to develop students who are academically proficient and spiritually grounded.
